Nari Shakti: Housewife to Working Women
A woman is power EASILY CALL NARISHAKTI. She is the pillar of
not only the family but also the society. A woman has traditionally carried out
the responsibility of housework and maintaining the family. However, in modern
times, women are managing both housework and jobs. Apart from this, some women
are making a name for themselves by choosing their field of choice.
Some women are also making a name for themselves in their fields
of interest like sports, arts, music, etc. along with their jobs. There are many
stories that tell the story of the achievements of these women. Some of these
women have made it big with their achievements.
Times have changed along with the family system has changed.
Compared to earlier joint families, now triangular or square families are seen
as parents and children. Most families have only three or four members. All
this has changed in mother's work and child-rearing.
Now a woman works, earns money for the family, and at the same
time does household responsibilities and child rearing with equal dedication.
Of course, in all this, she was running. Stress comes. But she adjusts
everything by making some compromises. Trying to do justice to everyone.
When it comes to child-rearing, it is difficult to compare women
of the past with the working women of today. Both generations have faced
different struggles, as well as different things that have helped them in
parenting.
1) Age of the Woman:
The age of the mother at the time of childbirth used to be very young. Again in the past three-four-five children were born very easily. Mothers of the previous generation were younger than mothers of the present generation at the time of first childbirth. After that, some women started working but many women quit their jobs as they could not get more responsibility at a young age. Now, when girls become mothers for the first time, they are older and wiser, so they are able to juggle the dual responsibilities of a baby and a job.2) Nature of Work:
The nature of work also varied in the last two or three generations. Thirty-forty years ago women generally took care of the main and important responsibility of the household. After that, women who got the opportunity of education generally started working 9 to 5 jobs. Most of the women were working as teachers or had jobs in banks, LIC, and government departments. The working hours were fixed so that one could pay attention at home. Nowadays girls are working in different fields, working hours are not fixed, call for work anytime and have to go to the office. Of course, all these Shivdhanushya girls are seen taking good care of themselves. With the support of family, they can take up new career opportunities.3) Re-employment:
In the previous generation, if you quit your job after giving birth until the baby is 2-3 years old and then find a job again, it was not too difficult to get a new job. In the teaching profession, there were not many changes in jobs, the syllabus was the same, so one got the job due to previous experience. Nowadays, new technologies are being developed every day, there are many changes in jobs in 2-3 years and then the old experience is no longer useful. Finding a new job becomes difficult.4) Maids and Aunts for Housework:
Earlier, there was no way to hire maids, women for cooking, or nannies for babies and they were not affordable. Doing everything at home and then going to work is very difficult. But now, due to aunts kept for work, the worry of housework has reduced a little.5) Increasing Participation of Men:
Men are now becoming more prominent with the changing times. In the previous generation, the husband (father of the child) was not much involved in childcare. Mother had the full responsibility of child care so it was difficult to give attention to both the baby and the job. Dads in today's generation are very active in child care, so the mother's burden has become a little lighter.6) Joint Family:
Earlier there was a joint family, there was someone to look after the children at home but now the parents are in the office and the baby is in the nursery, this is the only solution. Earlier, grandparents used to be busy in God's religion at home, and bhajans and shlokas would easily fall on children's ears. There were no other means of entertainment, so grandparents used to tell stories, stories, and impart good manners to children. Nowadays grandparents don't stay with them, if they come along for a few days, they show the kids serials on TV, and videos on mobile phones. Children are getting addicted to phones and TV very quickly. The big question facing the parents of today is how to properly educate children. The government of India has taken various steps to solve the
problems of working women. Some of these major steps are as follows.
7) Reservation for Women:
The government of India has provided reservations for women in
government jobs and educational institutions. This reservation makes it easier
for women to get jobs and education.
8) Special Schemes for Women:
The government of India has launched many special schemes for women.
Financial assistance and employment opportunities are provided to women under
this scheme.
9) Laws to Prevent Violence against Women:
The government of India has enacted several laws to prevent violence
against women. Under this law, women are protected from sexual harassment,
domestic violence, and workplace discrimination.
Summary
Despite these steps taken by the Indian government for working women, working women in India still face many problems. Society needs to try to solve these problems.
